SPRING SKIN TIPS

Spring ushers in a welcome change of pace for our skin. After enduring months of harsh winter weather and dry indoor heating, your skin needs a bit of seasonal skincare. Get your skin prepped and ready for spring and upcoming spring events!

These are our six tips for getting back radiant skin for spring. Get ready to wake up your skin from winter hibernation and restore that healthy glow.

EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

To start your journey to radiant skin, let's wash away the remnants of winter. Despite the constant regeneration of skin cells, a long winter season of cold weather can leave the skin dry. It's time to rejuvenate and restore a healthy, glowing complexion.

One of the first steps is exfoliation to clear away the dead surface skin cells using a gentle exfoliating scrub. Our favorite exfoliator is ZO's Exfoliating Polish! And you don't have to stop at your face! Relax with a warm bath to soften up the dead skin cells, and then treat yourself to a much needed full-body exfoliation!

HYDRATE YOURSELF AND YOUR SKIN

In winter, our bodies tend to absorb less moisture, so it is important to pay extra attention to staying well-hydrated as we move into spring. Hydrating inside and out helps combat dryness and enhance the feel, look, and quality of your skin. Try increasing your water consumption by drinking eight glasses (8 ounces) of water daily, incorporating water-rich fruits and vegetables into your diet, and being mindful of foods high in sodium. Fresh fruits and vegetables are abundant in essential vitamins and minerals for promoting healthy skin and have a high water content that provides essential hydration!

WEAR SPF, EVEN ON CLOUDY DAYS

Sunscreen isn’t just for days at the beach. Even on cloudy days, harmful UV rays can reach and harm your skin. We recommend applying sunscreen to protect the skin no matter the time of the year. It is crucial to apply and reapply a good sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Opt for a product that is lightweight and won't clog up pores, such as Alastin's SilkShield All Mineral Sunscreen.

TREAT YOURSELF TO A FACIAL

Spring is an excellent time to treat your skin with a rejuvenating facial from Radiant by MD. Depending on your skin's unique needs and conditions, we recommend a Glo2Facial by Geneo or one of our custom facial treatments with our team of aestheticians. Don't stop your skin treatments just because of the sun! Continue your skin care by incorporating regular facial treatments to hydrate and slough off dead skin.

SWITCH TO A LIGHTER MOISTURIZER

During winter, even heavy moisturizers might not suffice for dry skin. With warmer, more humid weather approaching, opt for a lighter formula to avoid overly oily skin. In your spring skincare regimen, incorporate a lighter moisturizer to maintain skin health and hydration without feeling heavy and oily. We love Alastin's Ultra Light Moisturizer, a breathable, ultralight lotion. It is non-greasy, fast-absorbing, and leaves skin feeling moisturized and soft.

SPRING CLEANING... CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES AND SPONGES

While spring cleaning your closets and cupboards, remember to address your cosmetic and skincare products, too. Makeup sponges and brushes can accumulate a significant amount of unseen bacteria, transferring germs to your face with each use. Gently clean your brushes using a natural cleanser and allow them to air dry flat for 24 hours. Additionally, don't forget to clean your loofah, facial scrub brushes, and pillowcases, and check for expired topical creams and gels in the medicine cabinet while you're tidying up!
